On Saturday night in Puerto Rico, Donny “The Savage” McCrary showed what his new dedication to boxing has done for his career in winning a unanimous decision over proven war-horse Jesus Valverde of Mexico on the undercard of the HBO event featuring Miguel Cotto, and the Allen Green vs. Edison Miranda bout. Since facing Green on ESPN and flooring him in the 5th round of a near miracle upset at super-middleweight, McCrary has remained in training camp, dropped to 152 lbs. and established himself as a force to be reckoned with and a legitimate contender at jr. middleweight. McCrary was provided with a great opportunity to prove his ability on a HBO card against a solid opponent who only the elite fighter beat. As to not disappoint the people who have always believed in Donny, he dominated his journeyman opponent through-out the bout, thus placing him in the “elite” fighter category to the people in boxing that matter.
